The University of Pittsburgh will grant transfer credit for credit earned at other institutions based on course equivalencies, including expected learning outcomes, with those of the University curriculum and standards. These course equivalencies are subject to University of Pittsburgh Provost Policy, as well as individual school requirements for transfer credit and other forms of advanced standing credit.
To identify how undergraduate coursework transfers to the University of Pittsburgh for a course equivalency, please reference the Transfer Course Equivalency Database. Once you have reviewed the course equivalency, you should work with your advisor to determine how that course fulfills your specific degree requirements.
Current Students
If you are a current student at the University of Pittsburgh wishing to take a course at another institution, you should contact your Dean's Office prior to registering for it. Your advisor and Dean's Office can help you determine any limitations and whether the external course will fulfill your specific degree requirements.
If you are a current Pitt student looking to transfer into a program within a different school or regional campus at the University of Pittsburgh, please contact the specific school or regional campus in which you are interested.
Please note that at this time, the Transfer Course Equivalency Database only includes equivalencies for undergraduate, Pittsburgh campus courses at other U.S. institutions.
Prospective Students
After reviewing the course equivalencies, please visit the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid page to access the Transfer Tool in order to receive an unofficial evaluation of how your credits will transfer toward the Pitt degree in which you are interested.
For questions regarding the Transfer Tool, please contact the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at pitt.admissions@pitt.edu.
