Announcements:
Dear Faculty,
The Office of the University Registrar would like to remind you of the importance of accurate class enrollment. Over-enrolling classes can lead to insufficient seating for students, which is particularly problematic this semester due to limited classroom availability. We cannot guarantee the ability to relocate over-enrolled classes.
Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that all students enrolled in your class are accurately reflected on the PeopleSoft class roster by the add/drop deadline. Students who appear in Canvas but not on the PeopleSoft roster are not officially enrolled in your class and will not be eligible to receive credit or a grade at the end of the term. Participation in class while not officially enrolled should not be used as a mechanism to circumvent holds or other circumstances that prevent enrollment. Doing so can put the University at risk of negative impact, including risk with federal regulatory compliance connected to federal financial aid.
Finally, students trying to enroll in an at-capacity class should be encouraged to join the waitlist for the class through PeopleSoft. The waitlist system is designed to provide equitable access to classes as students add/drop or enrollment capacities are increased. Issuing permission numbers to override the waitlist circumvents this process and may lead to inequitable outcomes for students.
Thank you for your attention to these matters.
Sincerely,
Office of the University Registrar
