*** Now Available: 2017-2018 Academic Calendar ***

The 2017-2018 Academic Calendar was recently approved and is now available (click here). The 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021 Extended Academic Calendars have also been updated and are available in the Calendar Resources portion of this page. The four main changes incorporated into the 2017-2018 Academic Calendar include:

  • Spring Term Start Date - Beginning with the 2018 Spring Term (2184), classes will begin on the Monday of the first full work week in January (generally the second week in January). This will result in spring terms where Undergraduate, Monday (only) classes will have 13 class meetings scheduled, which is 1 class meeting short of accreditation regulations. Provost’s Office guidelines regarding how to effectively “make-up” the 14th class meeting are available here and in the Calendar Resources portion of this page.
  • Trees = Breathe - In an effort to improve accuracy and reduce waste, a hard copy of the Academic Calendar will no longer be distributed to University Faculty and Staff. As has been the case for years, online versions of the Academic Calendar will be available for University Faculty and Staff to reference and print (if necessary) here and in the Calendar Resources portion of this page.
  • Extended Drop Period - Beginning with the 2018 Spring Term (2184), the drop period will be extended for qualifying undergraduate students. Following the 2184 term, the extended drop period is expected to be offered in both fall and spring terms moving forward. Guidelines regarding the extended drop period are available here and in the Calendar Resources portion of this page.
  • Commencement Convocation - Beginning with the 2017-2018 Academic Calendar, commencement convocation will be listed as two separate events (Graduate and Undergraduate) to be held on two separate dates.
